Animal Crossing: New Horizons Becomes Second-Best-Selling Video Game in Japan
Nintendo’s life simulation game
Animal Crossing: New Horizons has recently achieved a record in the gaming
world. The video game has become the second-best-selling video game in Japan.
In a tweet posted by Game Date Library, it was mentioned that New Horizons had
sold more than 350,000 units on the domestic front, bringing its sales to over
7.5 million. The game was developed for Nintendo Switch. Pokemon Red, Green,
and Blue still holds the first position with 10.23 million copies sold to
people who are fond of playing these kinds of video games. With the simulation
game gaining a lot of popularity, there is a considerable possibility that
Animal Crossing: New Horizons might upstage the Pokemon game in Japan.
Animal
Crossing: Animal Horizons Sales Crosses Pokemon Gold and Silver
Animal Crossing: Animal Horizons
sales surpassed role-playing video game Pokemon Gold and Silver to achieve the
second position. The game was released in 1999 and sold 7.150 million copies.
It was developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo. The game was released
for a single platform, i.e., Game Boy Color. The game belonged to the second
generation Pokemon games, and like Pokemon Red, Yellow and Blue, Gold and
Silver was played in the third person. One of the main goals of this game was
to defeat the elite four and Pokemon master Lance to become the champion. The
other objective was to catch, trade, and evolve Pokemon to have all 251
Pokemon.
The coronavirus pandemic has
forced people to stay indoors, and this might trigger people to start playing
games. A little over 2.5 million copies of New Horizons need to be sold in
Japan to take the first position with a huge gap in sales of both the games.
