 We all know about the recently released Netflix series “Barbarians,” which was created in Germany. Now, the streaming giant is looking to bank on its success and release another German miniseries, “Over Christmas,” in the final week of November.

“Over Christmas” will be the eleventh addition to the list of Netflix German originals. The other successful franchises include Barbarians and the international hit time travel thriller “Dark,” which recently ended after its successful run of three seasons. “Over Christmas” is helmed by Tobi Baumann, and the story is partially based on a novel titled “7 Kilos in 3 Days: Home Over Christmas” penned by the writer Christian Huber. Luke Mockridge, who is well known as a co-producer, will be making his acting debut.

It will be the eleventh addition to the list of German originals released on Netflix’s platform when it gets released. The release date has been confirmed, and “Over Christmas” will arrive at Netflix on November the 27th, 2020.

If the details revealed by IMDb are to be believed, the miniseries will only be three episodes long. A recent report has even confirmed that each episode will be a quarter to an hour-long.

The miniseries’ plot will explore Basti’s character, who struggles in his professional and personal life. The career gives him a hard time, and his beloved girlfriend, “Fine,” has also dumped him. He returns home to discover that his misery has increased two-fold because Fine is now dating his brother Niklas. Basti’s future gets thrown up in the air, but that isn’t the end for him. His life springs into chaos when a hidden secret between Papa Walter and Mama Brigette gets revealed to him.

Luke Mockridge has been cast in the lead role of Basti. Cristina do Rego will play his love interest Fine. Lucas Reiber will play his brother Niklas. Papa Walter will be played by Rudolph Kowalski, while Johanna Gastorf will be seen as Mama Brigette. Side characters Grandma Hilde, Karina, and Rudolph, will be played by Carmen-Maja Antoni, Seyneb Saleh, and Nino Porzio, respectively.

Luke Mockridge is a man of comedy apart from being a tv presenter and currently has an abode in Germany but hails from Canadian-Italian origins. He is also a Youtuber and the owner of the channel “Snoozzze,” which he runs alongside Julian “Jules” and Joyce Ilg. Five years ago, he had launched his German comedy show “Luke! Die Woche und iche.” A year later, Netflix offered him a deal which saw him hosting a reality show called “Ultimate Beastmaster.”

Mockridge has been a recipient of the German Comedy Award as the Best Newcomer to recognize his unconventional comedy methods. He has also been slammed for making sexist jokes on his girlfriend, which he later apologized for and said that they were taken out of context.

Luke Mockridge will be seen as Basti in the comedy-drama miniseries “Over Christmas,” which will premiere on Netflix on November the 27th, 2020.
