The Production of Ozark to Kick Start This Fall
Netflix super hit
show “Ozark” will begin its production no later than the month of November. The
first date is set to be November the 9th 2020. However, Jason Bateman will not
be involved in the direction of season 4. He will not direct any episodes.
The pandemic has forced Jason Bateman to take precautions, and
he has ultimately decided not to steer the wheel for any of the Ozark season 4
episodes.
The entertainment industry is tying up its shoelaces and laying
the groundwork as both the Movies and TV industry are hoping to resume their
shooting works. Meanwhile, the Netflix show’s production team has also fixed a
date to commence the production of their final season.
Jason Bateman, himself in an interview with IndieWire, revealed
their plans. “We are going to start on November 9. Everything is moving well
towards that, and we are confident in the guidelines and protocols we are going
to be following. We have got consultants, and we are learning a lot from other
productions.”
The streaming colossus revealed the plans for renewal at the end
of June when they announced that there would be another season of Ozark and
that it would bring the story of the Byrde family to an end. Season 4 is going
to be the final season of the Ozark franchise.
Netflix’s idea is that they will release the long 14-episode
season in two parts with each part (Part I and Part II) consisting of seven
episodes. The production house of MRC will return to produce the final season
of Ozark.
Experts from several guilds, unions, and other associations have
given some guidelines and protocols in order to guide the resumption in a safe
direction. The production team also has to send their own set of safety
protocols for approval to local authorities. Only when they get approved only
then, they can resume their work.
However, the Ozark team has already prepared a contingency plan
for the worst-case scenario. But Jason Bateman is crossing his fingers, and he
hasn’t shied away from expressing his fears. He said that “sometimes there are
going to be 60-70 people on stage”, and “there are air conditioning pushing the
air in and sucking the air out.”
In order to ensure that none of the actors get sick, Bateman,
who is the star of the show and usually directs the first two episodes of the
season, has decided to step down this time.
Bateman’s love to be behind the camera is well known to
everyone. In the interest of everyone’s safety and smooth running of the
production, he will only be a part of the actors’ team and let someone else
steer the wheel. This will significantly lower the chances of the pandemic
hampering production.
He also confessed that he would not wear the director’s hat for
the series finale either citing similar problems.
He does feel disappointed with it because directing the show is
his passion, and that’s what brought him inside Ozark production in the first
place. He said that it’s “heartbreaking” for him, but it just “didn’t make any
sense.”
Ozark is one of the most famous Netflix originals of all time in
juxtaposition with Stranger Things, Daredevil, Dark, and The Haunting of the
Hill House. Season 3 of the Netflix original had bagged a whopping 18 Emmy
nominations. Over the years, the franchise has remained one of the most-watched
shows on the streaming giant.
